Laws and Regulations
Most West African economies are bound by the framework of the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA), and each country has additional local regulatory requirements:
- Nigeria: Implements the mandatory SONCAP conformity assessment program, controlled agricultural and forestry machinery must hold a certificate for customs clearance
- Mali: Complies with the Malian Environmental Protection Act, requiring emissions of agricultural and forestry machinery to meet environmental regulations
- Zimbabwe: Pursuant to the Plant Protection and Machinery Safety Standards Regulations, certification by the country's national standards board is required The latest regulatory requirements must be verified on the official regulatory website of the target country before export.
Technical Requirements
- Basic standards: ISO international standards for agricultural and forestry machinery safety and performance are generally recognized, some regions adopt harmonized local standards
- Mandatory testing items: Usually cover mechanical safety performance, engine emission, and electromagnetic compatibility, some require compliance with adaptability indicators for Africa's high-temperature and dusty environment
- Documentation requirements: Complete Chinese and English technical documents must be provided, including product manuals, circuit diagrams, parameter nameplate information, etc.
Certification Process
- Complete product pre-testing: Conduct required tests in a target country-recognized laboratory to obtain a qualified test report
- Submit certification application: Fill out the application form of the corresponding certification body, upload test reports, product technical materials and other documents, and pay relevant fees
- Review and certification issuance: The body reviews the materials, issues an official certification certificate after approval, which generally has a validity of 3 years
- Customs clearance certificate: Most countries require a separate conformity certificate for customs clearance for each batch of exported goods for customs processing
