Agricultural & Forestry Machinery — Africa

Certification Introduction

Africa does not have a unified mandatory certification system for agricultural and forestry machinery, and different countries have differentiated market access requirements. Nigeria's SONCAP (Standards Organization of Nigeria Conformity Assessment Programme) is the most representative mandatory certification in Africa, and its certification results are recognized for reference by multiple West African countries. Most African countries recognize ISO international standards, some Southern and Western African countries require local official certification, and certification is a necessary prerequisite for cargo customs clearance and legal market entry.

Technical Requirements

  • Basic standards: ISO international standards for agricultural and forestry machinery safety and performance are generally recognized, some regions adopt harmonized local standards
  • Mandatory testing items: Usually cover mechanical safety performance, engine emission, and electromagnetic compatibility, some require compliance with adaptability indicators for Africa's high-temperature and dusty environment
  • Documentation requirements: Complete Chinese and English technical documents must be provided, including product manuals, circuit diagrams, parameter nameplate information, etc.

Certification Process

  1. Complete product pre-testing: Conduct required tests in a target country-recognized laboratory to obtain a qualified test report
  2. Submit certification application: Fill out the application form of the corresponding certification body, upload test reports, product technical materials and other documents, and pay relevant fees
  3. Review and certification issuance: The body reviews the materials, issues an official certification certificate after approval, which generally has a validity of 3 years
  4. Customs clearance certificate: Most countries require a separate conformity certificate for customs clearance for each batch of exported goods for customs processing
