Electrical & Electronics — Turkey

Certification Introduction

Turkey implements a mandatory TSE certification system for electrical and electronic products, led by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE), Turkey's official standardization body. It is a prerequisite for products to be legally placed on the Turkish market. Turkey is a member of the EU Customs Union, and the valid CE certification results of most electrical and electronic products can be partially or fully mutually recognized by TSE, which simplifies the process and reduces compliance costs. In addition to TSE certification, wireless electrical and electronic products also need to additionally apply for radio frequency type approval from the Turkish Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK). For the specific scope of products requiring mandatory certification, please refer to the latest published list on the official TSE website.

Technical Requirements

Electrical Safety: Different product categories correspond to different test standards. For example, household appliances apply to TS EN 60335 series, and information technology equipment applies to TS EN 60950 series. Products must pass tests for items including electric shock protection, temperature rise, insulation strength, fire retardancy, mechanical strength, etc. Product plugs must comply with local Turkish specifications, and all product instruction manuals and safety warnings must be provided in Turkish. Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): It basically adopts EU TS EN series EMC standards. For some categories (such as switching power supplies), the conducted emission limit is stricter than EU requirements; wireless products must meet the requirements of Turkey-specified frequency bands and transmission power limits. Must comply with Turkey's relevant additional requirements for restriction of hazardous substances and chemical registration.

Certification Process

Confirm the product's corresponding HS code, mandatory certification requirements and applicable test standards, prepare complete technical documents in Turkish, including product instruction manual, circuit diagram, list of key components, declaration of conformity, etc.;
Existing qualified CE and CB test reports can be submitted for result mutual recognition, exempting some repeated tests. Otherwise, full project testing must be completed in a TSE-accredited laboratory;
Submit formal application materials to TSE through a local authorized representative in Turkey;
TSE completes document review, and high-risk products need supplementary factory inspection;
After passing the review, you will obtain the TSE certification certificate, and the product can be legally marketed after affixing the TSE mark that meets the specification requirements.
