The Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) is the official competent authority responsible for product standardization, metrology and conformity assessment in Jordan. For electrical and electronic products exported to Jordan or placed on the Jordanian market, obtaining JSMO certification is a mandatory prerequisite for customs clearance and market launch. This certification system aims to ensure products comply with Jordanian safety and environmental protection requirements, protect consumer rights, and recognize existing certification results under the international mutual recognition system, which can reduce enterprises' repeated testing costs.

The core legal basis is the Jordanian Law on Standards and Metrology and related implementation rules, all regulated electrical and electronic products must obtain the Certificate of Conformity (CoC) issued by JSMO before clearing customs and entering the market. Products without valid certificates will be detained, returned or fined by Jordanian customs. Enterprises need to regularly pay attention to updates of regulations and standards officially released by JSMO to confirm the latest requirements.

Jordan's regulation of electrical and electronic products focuses on three core areas: electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and energy efficiency. Jordanian national standards are generally formulated by referencing or directly adopting International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards and European EN standards. The CB certificates, CE certificates and corresponding test reports against EN/IEC standards that enterprises have already obtained can be used as supporting documents for certification assessment, and no full retesting is required.
