Electrical & Electronics — Haiti

Certification Introduction

Haiti implements mandatory compliance access requirements for imported and locally marketed electrical and electronic products. Supervision is coordinated by the Haitian National Bureau of Standards (ANH), and the National Building and Housing Commission (CNBH) is responsible for specific safety assessments. This requirement applies to most low-voltage civil and industrial electrical and electronic products. Products without valid certification cannot complete customs clearance, are prohibited from entering market circulation, and non-compliant products will be returned or fined.

Technical Requirements

  • Electrical safety: Comply with general international IEC standards. Household appliances correspond to IEC 60335, and information technology equipment corresponds to IEC 60950. Core tests including dielectric strength, grounding continuity, fire resistance and flame retardancy must be completed.
  • Electromagnetic compatibility: Adopt CISPR 11/EN 55011 standards to limit electromagnetic disturbance and meet anti-interference index requirements.
  • Energy efficiency and environmental protection: Air conditioners and lighting products must meet the requirements of minimum energy performance standards (MEPS), and hazardous substance content must comply with RoHS limit requirements.
  • Labeling requirements: Product nameplates must be marked with safety warnings in French or Creole, as well as information of Haiti's local agent.

Certification Process

Prepare application materials, including product technical documents (circuit diagrams, component lists, etc.), conformity test reports issued by ILAC-accredited institutions, and manufacturer's declaration of conformity; submit the certification application and complete documents to the competent Haitian authority, and complete preliminary documentary review; provide 2-3 samples to the designated laboratory for testing as required, and high-risk products require additional on-site factory audit; the competent authority completes review based on test results and submitted materials, issues a 3-year valid certification certificate upon approval, and certified products are subject to regular market sampling inspections.
