Electrical & Electronics — Gabon
Certification Introduction
Gabon implements a mandatory access certification system for electronic and electrical products: Ordinary electronic and electrical products (home appliances, IT equipment, lighting, etc.) are required to obtain ANF certification, while radio frequency communication electronic and electrical products need to additionally obtain ARPAC certification. The competent authorities are the Gabon National Bureau of Standards and Quality (ANF) and the Gabon Postal and Electronic Communications Regulatory Authority (ARPAC) respectively. Products without certification cannot clear customs or circulate legally in the Gabonese market.
Laws and Regulations
Core regulations are Mandatory product certification management system issued by ANF, and access specifications for communication radio frequency equipment issued by ARPAC
Non-compliant products may be seized by customs, with a maximum fine of 5 million CFA francs
Specific updated requirements shall be subject to the latest official announcements from ANF and ARPAC
Technical Requirements
Safety Requirements: Ordinary electronic and electrical products must pass tests such as insulation resistance, voltage resistance, and grounding continuity, meeting the NG 001-2018 standard or equivalent IEC international safety standards
Electromagnetic Compatibility Requirements: Product electromagnetic interference must comply with the CISPR 32 standard
Energy Efficiency Requirements: Products such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and televisions must meet the requirements of NG 002-2020, with standby power consumption not exceeding 1W, must be affixed with A-G level energy efficiency labels, and test reports must be issued by ISO 17025 accredited laboratories
Communication Radio Frequency Products: Products must comply with Gabon's spectrum planning, complete radio frequency parameter, electromagnetic compatibility, and SAR value testing for handheld terminals, meeting corresponding international technical standards
Certification Process
Non-Gabonese local enterprises shall first entrust a legally representative local agency in Gabon;
Prepare application materials, including technical documents such as product manuals, circuit diagrams, and qualified test reports;
Submit the application to the corresponding competent authority (ANF/ARPAC), complete sample testing as required, and high-risk products may require additional factory inspection;
Obtain the certification certificate after passing the review. The certificate is usually valid for 1-3 years, and you need to apply for renewal in advance before expiration.
