Electrical & Electronics — Argentina

Certification Introduction

Argentina implements mandatory conformity certification for electrical and electronic products with rated voltage ranging from 50-1000Vac (alternating current) and 50-1500Vdc (direct current). Products can only go through customs clearance and enter the market after obtaining the certification. Starting from February 26, 2026, Argentina implements a brand-new CoC conformity certification system, updating the original regulatory framework. The original mainstream mandatory certification is the IRAM S-Mark safety certification. Regulated product categories cover power adapters, chargers, household appliances, lighting equipment, power tools, electronic audio-visual equipment, information technology equipment, etc. Products with telecommunication functions need to apply for additional CNC certification, and household appliances and lighting products included in the catalog are required to apply for mandatory energy efficiency label certification.

Technical Requirements

Safety Standards: Developed by IRAM based on converted IEC international standards, with only a small number of Argentine national differences. Valid CB certificates and test reports under the mutual recognition system are accepted for certificate conversion Electromagnetic Compatibility: All mandatory regulated products must meet EMC limit requirements to reduce the risk of electromagnetic interference Energy Efficiency Requirements: Cataloged products such as refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and lighting products must complete energy efficiency testing and affix energy efficiency labels. Energy efficiency is divided into 7 levels from A to G, with Grade A being the highest energy efficiency Marking Specifications: The official conformity mark with a QR code must be affixed, and a Spanish declaration of conformity must be provided. The rated voltage and frequency is AC 220V/50Hz, plugs must comply with IRAM 2073 and IRAM 2063 standards, and a local Argentine importer is required as the legal responsible entity for certification

Certification Process

Confirm the product control category and corresponding certification requirements, organize product technical documents and samples;
Submit the application to an Argentine-accredited certification body;
Send samples to the designated accredited laboratory to complete the required test items;
Arrange the initial factory audit for mark-type certification to verify production consistency;
Obtain the certification certificate after passing both the test and audit;
Affix the compliance mark as required before market launch, and the certificate needs to pass annual supervision audit to maintain its validity.
