Electrical & Electronics — Argentina

Certification Introduction

Argentina implements mandatory conformity certification for electronic and electrical products with rated voltage 50-1000Vac and 50-1500Vdc, and products can only be cleared and enter the market after obtaining the certification. Starting from February 26, 2026, Argentina implements a new CoC conformity certification system, updating the original regulatory framework. The original mainstream mandatory certification is IRAM S-Mark safety certification. Controlled product categories cover power adapters, chargers, household appliances, lighting equipment, power tools, electronic audio-visual equipment, information technology equipment, etc. Products with telecommunication functions require additional application for CNC certification, and listed household appliances and lighting products must apply for mandatory energy efficiency label certification.

Technical Requirements

  • Safety standards: Developed based on IRAM's conversion of IEC international standards, with only a small number of Argentine national differences. Valid CB certificates and test reports under the mutual recognition system are accepted for certificate conversion
  • Electromagnetic compatibility: All mandatory controlled products must meet EMC limit requirements to reduce the risk of electromagnetic interference
  • Energy efficiency requirements: Products listed in the catalog such as refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and lighting must complete energy efficiency tests and affix energy efficiency labels. The energy efficiency grades are divided into 7 levels A-G, with Grade A being the highest
  • Labeling specifications: The official conformity mark with a QR code must be affixed, and a Spanish declaration of conformity shall be provided. The rated voltage and frequency is AC 220V/50Hz, plugs must comply with IRAM 2073 and IRAM 2063 standards, and a local Argentine importer is required as the legal responsible entity for certification

Certification Process

Confirm the product control category and corresponding certification requirements, organize product technical documents and samples; Submit the application to an Argentine-accredited certification body; Send samples to the designated accredited laboratory to complete the required test items; Arrange initial factory audit for mark-based certification to verify production consistency; After passing both tests and audit, obtain the certification certificate; Affix the compliance mark as required before market launch, and the certificate needs to pass annual supervision audit to maintain validity.
