Certification Introduction
Singapore implements mandatory market access certification for motor vehicles and components intended for use on public roads, administered by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore. This certification is a statutory prerequisite for product sales in the Singapore market and the legal operation of vehicles on roads. It covers whole vehicle type approval and certification for key safety components including seat belts, tires, glass, child safety seats, brake components, etc. Whole vehicle registration also needs to comply with Singapore's Certificate of Entitlement (COE) control requirements.

Technical Requirements

- Emission and environmental protection: Must comply with Singapore's local motor vehicle emission limit requirements; electric vehicles must meet energy consumption and electrical safety specifications.
- LTA recognizes test reports and certification results that conform to UN ECE rules, which can simplify part of the certification process.
Certification Process
Manufacturers or their authorized local Singaporean agents prepare a full set of application materials, including supporting documents such as product technical specifications, design descriptions and test reports. Submit the certification application via LTA's official online portal. After LTA completes the preliminary review of materials, product samples shall be sent to LTA-approved laboratories to complete the required tests as required. After the tests pass, LTA reviews all documents, and issues a certification approval document upon successful review, after which the product can be legally exported or placed on the Singapore market.
