Certification Introduction
Motor vehicles and their components exported to Chile or placed on the Chilean market are product categories subject to mandatory Chilean regulation. Complete vehicles must obtain the National Vehicle Control Certificate before entering the market, while components are subject to different regulatory requirements based on their product categories. Eligible products can enjoy preferential tariff treatment under the China-Chile Free Trade Agreement.
Laws and Regulations
The regulatory authority is the National Customs Service of Chile (Servicio Nacional de Aduanas)
1. Electrical components must comply with relevant specifications of the Chilean Superintendency of Electricity (SEC);
2. Import of complete vehicles follows Chilean motor vehicle regulatory requirements;
3. Import declaration must conform to the operation rules of SIDUNEA, the automated system of Chilean Customs;

Technical Requirements
All product labels and declaration documents must use Spanish, and the date format follows the dd/mm/yyyy specification.
To enjoy preferential tariffs under the China-Chile Free Trade Agreement, products must meet the origin requirement that regional value content is no less than 40%.
Electrical motor vehicle components must comply with safety standards recognized by SEC.
Complete vehicles must meet Chilean technical requirements related to motor vehicle safety and emissions, and obtain the corresponding official conformity certificate.
Products must be accurately classified in accordance with the classification guide released by Chilean Customs.
Certification Process
Complete pre-classification of goods and organize the full set of declaration documents, including authenticated commercial invoices, packing lists, transport bills of lading, certificates of origin, etc.;
Apply in advance to obtain the mandatory conformity certificate corresponding to motor vehicles and their components;
Submit electronic import declaration 72 hours in advance via an authorized local customs brokerage agent in the SIDUNEA system;
Wait for customs to complete risk assessment and inspection, and complete customs clearance to enter the market after paying taxes and duties.
