Electrical & Electronics — Paraguay
Certification Introduction
Electronic and electrical products entering the Paraguayan market must obtain mandatory certification issued by the National Institute of Standardization and Technology of Paraguay (INTN). Paraguay is a member of the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), and INTN certification results enjoy regional recognition among other MERCOSUR member states, helping enterprises expand into the regional market. Products without valid certification cannot complete customs clearance, and are not allowed to be legally launched and sold in the Paraguayan market.
Laws and Regulations
The competent authority is National Institute of Standardization and Technology of Paraguay (INTN), the regulatory system follows MERCOSUR regional harmonized technical regulations, and relevant national regulatory requirements for conformity assessment are implemented at the same time. In 2025, Paraguay is advancing new legislation related to electronic and electrical product manufacturing and assembly, optimizing processes for import and production links. For the specific latest provisions, please refer to the official information released by INTN.
Technical Requirements
Electrical Safety: Based on the IEC 60335 series of international standards, additional requirements for damp heat testing for tropical climate adaptation are added.
Electromagnetic Compatibility: Products must comply with the INTN 34 001 standard, meeting relevant limit requirements for radiated emission, electrostatic discharge immunity and other related indicators.
Energy Efficiency: A mandatory energy efficiency labeling system is implemented. Products are divided into 7 energy efficiency grades from A+++ to D, and household electrical appliances must meet the minimum energy efficiency limit requirements.
Basic Requirements: Products must adapt to Paraguay's 220V/50Hz power grid requirements, and technical documents and product markings must be provided in Spanish.
Certification Process
The importer or a local authorized representative in Paraguay submits a formal certification application to INTN, together with product technical documents including circuit diagrams, user manuals, certification certificates of key components and other materials;
Products must complete type testing in accordance with requirements, and valid international IEC test reports can be recognized to simplify local testing procedures;
INTN completes compliance review of application documents and test results;
After passing the review, the INTN certification certificate is issued, and products can only complete customs clearance and be sold on the market after being affixed with the corresponding certification mark.
