Electrical & Electronics — Guinea

Certification Introduction

Guinea requires electronic and electrical products to pass mandatory conformity assessment before entering the market. The certification is regulated by the Guinea National Bureau of Standards (IGN), the certification system follows the unified framework of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and the current official scheme is GNM certification. There are two certification modes:

  • Batch COC certification: applicable to single export, separate application for each batch
  • Registration certification: valid for 3 years, suitable for long-term export enterprises Existing internationally mutually recognized certificates such as CE and CB can simplify the review process.

Technical Requirements

Electronic and electrical products adopt international IEC standards, core requirements are as follows:

  • Safety requirements comply with IEC 62368-1, conventional safety tests such as insulation resistance and voltage withstand must be completed
  • Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing is required, restriction of hazardous substances complies with the requirements of Annex 17 of REACH regulation
  • Special products such as lithium batteries need to provide additional UN38.3 test reports
  • The product body must be marked with manufacturer information, model and electrical parameters; technical documents must be provided in French. Test reports issued by ILAC mutually recognized and China CNAS accredited laboratories are accepted.

Certification Process

First confirm the product HS code and organize a complete technical document package, including product specification, circuit diagram, French version user manual and existing international certification certificates. Second send samples to an accredited laboratory to complete the required tests and obtain a qualified test report. Then log in to the single window system of the Ministry of Trade of Guinea to submit the certification application, upload the test report and relevant qualification documents. All non-French documents must complete commercial certification and consular authentication, and a copy of the local importer's business license must be provided. Wait for official document review, cooperate with on-site inspection when necessary, and obtain the compliance certificate for customs clearance after approval.
